It’s that time again. Free sake tasting for everyone!
On Sunday 14th we are offering the chance to taste Nakata Umeshu: a premium plum wine which is sweet and fruity. On Sunday 28th another two sake are ready to be tasted: Tenon and Narimasa.
Many of you out there might know about Japan Centre’s wide range of sushi, but maybe not about our Japanese style bakery. At 6.30 every morning our staff start to bake a unique selection of breads that would never be seen in a British bakery. As in the picture above, some of our breads shaped in characters that you may recognise – Totoro, Hello Kitty, An-Pan Man and Doraemon – each with chocolate, custard or red bean filling. They almost look too good to eat!
A rice tasting event may sound strange to our Western customers, but all Japanese know that getting the best tasting rice is the basis to success in the kitchen. So get involved and come to the Japan Centre Food Shop from Mon 18th – Thurs 21st May between 12-3pm to try our newest import.

Following the success of last month’s Sake tasting event, we’ve have decided to do it every month! This April we have two days, each with two different sake on offer.
Although our sake shop has moved from the basement to our main food shop, it still boasts a wide selection of Japanese rice wine, plum wine, beer and spritzers. For one day only, we are offering a unique sake tasting experience of two premium quality wines. It’s free too, so there’s no excuse not to come along.
