Yay, today is pancake day, the one day of the year when you can demand to eat pancakes all day… and why wouldn’t you!
In Japan however, they don’t have pancake day of course, but Japanese people like to eat a slightly different type of pancake… a savoury delight called okonomiyaki, and a true favourite of ours at Japan Centre!
Okonomiyaki is made with similar ingredients and methods, but instead of sugar and lemon juice, they prefer pork, prawns, spring onions, cabbage and lashings of okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise. As much as I like a tasty pancake, I cannot deny that okonomiyaki is an altogether superior option!
Luckily for you, Japan Centre have an okonomiyaki recipe just for you, so check it out and consider making something different tonight. Although be sure to save some space, still got to have sweet pancakes for pudding right! 🙂
