There would be no Japan Centre or Shoryu without intrepid entrepreneur Tak Tokumine. Heralding from Fukuoka in southern Japan, he came to the UK in the 1970s for love, but his ambition and passion led him to establishing London’s premier Japanese food hall and more recently, the Michelin recommended and unstoppable Shoryu Ramen. We sat down with Tak over a cup of freshly ground matcha tea to find out more about the man behind Japan Centre.

This Christmas is going to be a feast not only for the tastebuds, but the eyes, mind and wallet too! We’ve decked the halls and gone all out this year to make sure there’s something amazing going on at all times. So don’t miss out, check out our amazingly comprehensive round up of everything Christmas!

Brits have managed to come up with excuses to drink for almost every occasion. But really, there is nothing like an ice-cold pint on a (rare British) summer's day/at a BBQ/after a long day at work [delete as appropriate]. If you're feeling bored of the usual supermarket fare, why not try something different this summer with our selection of Japanese brews?
