Japan Centre are lucky enough to have the talented members of the British Origami Society on hand to demonstrate the beautiful 17th century art of Japanese origami paper-folding Sunday 1st July, 12pm – 3pm at Westfield Stratford City. Join us as we see some amazing creations come to life, as well as get the chance to test your own origami skills (and count the paper cuts!) with some hands-on tutorials. There’s even a free origami crane for the kids!

Ahh I remember my student days fondly. Lots of parties, lots of drinking and lots of sleeping. Unfortunately though, not a lot of money. This is why Japan Centre is here to help and support you! We know how daunting it can be thinking about how much you have left to spend on proper food instead of that 8p pack of instant noodles or yet another week’s worth of pasta… so we’ve introduced a student discount!
Hyper Japan is a three day Japanese extravaganza held at Olympia in London celebrating everything about Japanese food and culture.
With plenty of events going on over the weekend including the 2011 UK sushi awards, music performances from Kanon Wakeshima and a cosplay competition, there is definitely something for everyone to enjoy.
Be sure to have a look at the Hyper Japan website and watch out for a competition that we will be running soon for a chance to win free tickets for this event.

The new Toku Restaurant will be opening May/June 2010 at 16 Regent Street right next to our Food Hall. If you can’t wait that long, don’t fret – a new Toku Restaurant Sushi Bar will be opening first in April 2010. Keep checking our blog for more details! Read More…
