Celebrating 36 Years of Japan Centre: One Man’s Journey

Japan Centre 36th Anniversary

On 15th September you have an amazing chance to take part in a Free Sushi Making & Tasting Event held by our founder Tak Tokumine at 3:30pm in our Regent Street store. To celebrate 36 years of Japan Centre in the UK we’re holding a fun, hands-on and most importantly free sushi making and tasting class in store – think of it as our gift to you (isn’t it supposed to be the other way round!)

Who’s that man…

tak at umaiEstablished 36 years ago from a suitcase full of books brought over from Japan, Tak Tokumine has built Japan Centre into the go-to Japanese food hall of choice we all know and love today. A testament to Britain’s cultural diversity Tak’s been so proud to be able to help spread the awareness of Japanese cuisine within the UK and Europe for the past 36 years through his passion for Japanese food. Now he wants to spread that love a little further by offering our customers the chance to learn how to make sushi, absolutely free!

On a first come first serve basis until stocks last (that’s rice, raw fish and nori seaweed to you and me), prepare to roll up your sleeves and create your own sushi masterpieces under the guidance of Tak Tokumine himself, alongside our JC Sushi Academy instructor Kim Yukawa. A once in a lifetime experience, make sure you don’t miss out!
